When we speak about an Enlarged border, what we really mean, it’s the place from where I am standing to the point where I can declare “as far as my eyes can see.” As one comes to the knowledge of Christ and the power of his resurrection, there is a spiritual expansion that takes place. That which was once impossible now becomes possible through him.
"Our Borders cannot be Enlarged if our Foundation is not Established"
(Genesis 12: 1 - 2) “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:”
Here we see Abram’s faith towards God is being put to the test, He was first told to, “Get thee out of thy country.” If we are going to be in a place of prosperity, we need not to turn to the right or the left, but to follow God’s instructions. Abram is now leaving the past and entering into a new environment where he will have to rely totally on God and not on man. When we rely on the abilities of man, it prevents God from taking us into that whole new dimension. So often we try build on our foundation and expect God to enlarge the borders. Psalm 127:1 (KJV) Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. I may not understand all the things that are happening around me, but what I know is that he is in control. He brought the children out of Egypt to take them into a better land, a land flowing with milk and honey. There is an assurance that he will not take me to a desert or a dry place, but the evidence will be of a place that is fruitful.
It’s one thing for Abram to leave his country, but now to separate from “kindred? It’s one of the most difficult decisions one has to make in life. However, for an individual own spiritual benefit the bible clearly state that we should, “come out from among them and be ye separated. It’s a call for one to be separated from the distractions of the world and be attracted to the word. The word of God is not asking us to abandon our love ones or love them any less. Remember at one time we were once in darkness, but now have come into God’s marvelous light, how then can we go back to darkness?
Finally it comes to the point where God now instructs him to “leave father’s house”. First thing that comes to mind when one talk about father’s house is an environment of comfort or a place of security. It’s represent a safe haven, where one can run to in times of need or trouble. What seems to be a painful experience for him to leave father’s house, God reminds us that he is a friend who is closer than a brother. What God want us to understand is that we need to rely solely on him and not on man. Abram knew that it was a covenant made by God and he is not slack concerning his promises. When God is ready to bless you it will not be on someone else’s foundation, he will take you from your down moments, lift you up and place your feet on a rock.
James 2:23 (KJV) “And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called theFriend of God”. Abraham put his complete trust in the Lord, taking him at his word. God will not ask you to do the impossible, or to take on more than you can handle, but he is looking for those who will take him at his word.
A promise to Abraham
Leave country, and I will make of thee a great nation,
Leave kindred, and I will bless thee,
Leave father's house, and I will make thy name great,
And in all of that, thou shalt be a blessing
My Independence is my Dependence on God.
God Bless
